(To the Hot Spring! The Mysterious Mountain's Miracle of Love)

8 "Spa Blahs" 2005-04-16
The cafe is very lively as Pudding uses her tricks to serve the customers. Lettuce says that the business has picked up, but Keiichiro notes that it's changed since Pudding came. Then the mail arrives, and the one letter is a pass for a day-trip to the Hakogawara Princess Resort Suite Cottage. The four girls talk about the place, and decide to go.
The girls take a break at a shrine for lunch, and find out they're only halfway to the cottage. Ichigo is thinking of Aoyama when a boy shows up yelling at them. The boy looks like Aoyama, but when Ichigo speaks to him, he gets confused. The boy says his name is Aoyamada, and he says the shrine the girls are eating at is the shrine of Bachigappa, the god of the mountain.
The girls continue on their trek to the cottage, and Pudding climbs a tree and finds a hot spring, which ends up to be a natural hot spring. Lettuce then realizes she's made a mistake. Pudding jumps in the hot spring anyway and the other girls throw off their clothes and jump into the hot spring as well. While relaxing, the ground starts shaking. The girls think it's Bachigappa, but it's just a bulldozer. The man says that the area is under construction to build a resort cottage. Lettuce looks at the pass and finds that it was for next year, when the cottage is actually built and open, and apologizes again. Suddenly, Aoyamada appears again and stands in the way of a bulldozer. He says that they don't need a resort in this mountain, that it belongs to nature and shouldn't be destroyed.
Ichigo asks him why he did such a reckless thing, and Aoyamada says that when he was younger, otters lived in the river. He had made friends with one named Kawataro. The otters are now hiding away, and Aoyamada doesn't want them to lose their home. Ichigo says that she has a friend that likes animals, and Aoyamada is surprised that someone like that exists in the city. Aoyamada finds out that this person is the boy that Ichigo likes, Aoyama. The girls pray to Bacchigappa for success.
The girls are on their way home when Kishu appears and takes Aoyamada's spirit and creates a amphibian-like Chimera Animal. The monkeys try to fight it, but get knocked back. Kishu points out Aoyamada's unconscious body on a rock in the middle of the river. The girls transform and try to fight the monster, but it dodges their attacks. The monster goes on the offensive and smacks the girls around before letting loose a horrible smell from it's rear, causing the girls to collapse. Except for Pudding, who couldn't smell the stench due to a cold. She traps the monster in a pudding blob, and Ichigo destroys it and returns Aoyamada's spirit to his body. When he wakes up, the girls are gone, but suddenly, Kawataro appears. The two are happy to see each other. The girls say their goodbyes to Aoyamada, and he promises to stop the construction with the help of the other villagers.

They used the bad writers again for this episode x.x So many alterations AND cuts. Lately, we've gotten one or the other. I guess I can understand the cutting of the praying (it's a foreign religion! Oh noes!) and MAYBE the lunch (it's foriegn food! Oh noes!) but the stupid alterations...they're just stupid.
And I <3 Dana for her assistance with this episode comparison.

Didn't get to see the episode, because I was too busy cutting up fresh squids to feed to sea turtles. Yay community service.
... JAPANESE FOOD SUCKS. (Mmm, riceball sandwich)

Script was toned down in the love department, but put up in the saving the environment one. Sorta backwards, isn't it?

Aoyamada is renamed Marco, and his voice is so much better than Mark's. It actually sounds like a young boy!

Hakogawara Princess Resort is renamed to Pampered Princess Resort.

Bacchigappa is renamed Isaoshi for some reason.

Kawataro gets the boring name of Otto.

The little puff from Pudding's nose is erased.

(2 seconds) Pudding standing all proud like is cut short.

Zoey's hand doesn't move when she's speaking about Kiki.

Originally, the pass just came in the mail and wasn't addressed to anyone specific. The dub has it addressed to Bridget.

But...don't you think if it was addressed to Bridget, it would go to her HOUSE?

The Japanese writing on the pass is erased.

(23 seconds) The girls talking about the resort while scenes of the resort show is cut.

The sign at the train station is de-kana'd

(3 seconds) A top view of the village is deleted.

The box lunches were edited, so that the rice balls became sandwiches and the octopus balls were absorbed into the salad. Poor yummy Japanese food ;_;

The dub changed Lettuce saying they were halfway to the resort to them standing on top of it.

(6 seconds) The girls cheering about finding the hot springs, and then some shots of of springs were cut.

"When they said natural hot spring, they weren't monkeying around!"

Just cause there's monkeys around, doesn't warrant the need for monkey jokes.

(1 second) A hammer hitting a piece of wood is cut. Because hammers can be weapons *nod*

(3 seconds) Lettuce apologizing is cut.

(2 seconds) Aoyamada looking sad after falling is cut short.

(19 seconds) Aoyamada praying to Bacchigappa is cut.

(12 seconds) Ichigo rambling about Aoyama is cut, because the dialogue was changed from having a friend that likes animals to getting a petition signed.

(5 seconds) The girls and Aoyamada praying to Bacchigappa is cut.

We get the second transformation song (the one about animal instinct) edited to show a couple scenes with Pudding, one being part of her attack. And the way they did it seems to be taking random pretty scenes and putting them in a weird order, having them fully clothed and then a snippet from the beginning of the transformation.

(2 seconds) A little snippet of the girls before the Chimera Animal attacks is cut.

(2 seconds) A shot of the mountain in the sunset is cut.

The dub has a happier ending in that the construction was stopped. The original just said that the villagers now oppose the construction.

(11 seconds) The dub cuts the ending short by not showing Ichigo and Aoyamada happily staring at each other.
