(Piano of the Heart, A Heart-Throbbing Dance, Nyan!)

6 "Party 'Til You Mew" 2005-04-02
Deep Blue asks Kishu what the name of the enemy is, and he answers Mew Ichigo. He doesn't know the name of her true form, though. Deep Blue then says that what the humans have done to the earth cannot be forgiven. Kishu then grabs a red-glowing parasite, and says it's infused with an extinct animal's DNA. He says that if he can unite it with a spirit, it will make a powerful Chimera Animal.
Ichigo's father calls a very tired Ichigo to the breakfast table. He says that she should hurry and eat, and Ichigo asks why. He says they're going to visit a relative, and Ichigo says that she's busy. The two start fighting, and her mom just watches.
Later that day, Ichigo and Lettuce and cleaning the cafe while Mint drinks the special tea of the day. Ryou walks up and tells Ichigo to clean outside the store, and she complains about having to work on Sunday. Ryou says she won't get any cake if she doesn't clean. She and Lettuce go outside and are sweeping up leaves when a woman walks up to them, and starts speaking...in English. Ichigo and Lettuce stare blankly while she speaks, and Ichigo attempts to say a few things while Lettuce runs off to get help, leaving Ichigo to freak out. Luckily for her, Aoyama walks up, and even better, he knows some basic English, and translates what the woman, Mary McGuire, says. She is looking for Ryou, when he and and Keiichiro walk out. Ichigo notes that his attitude is completely different when he's speaking to this woman. Aoyama asks if Ryou is her friend, and Ichigo jumps back and introduces Mint and Lettuce to him. Lettuce invites him in for tea, and he says he has kendo club soon. Mint remarks that it's too bad that they can't meet Ichigo's boyfriend, sending Ichigo into yet another panic.
The three girls walk inside to see Mary playing the piano very beautifully. When she finishes, Keiichiro says that Ryou said he was going to give a party next week. He also invites Ichigo, Mint and Lettuce the party, and says that they made dresses for the girls. Ichigo thinks to herself that Ryou might be a nice person, and Mary says that she'd love to play at a party with the three girls there. At the end of the day, Ryou remarks about Aoyama to Ichigo, and her ears pop out. Ryou then hands the dress to Ichigo, and walks off. He goes into the computer room, and hopes that the party will go well.
At the party, Ichigo says that she's nervous, and Mint simply walks up to a man and begins dancing with him. Lettuce points out Mary playing the piano. Ryou then walks up, all handsome in a tuxedo, and Ichigo says that he actually looks good. People then start dancing, and Ryou takes Ichigo while Keiichiro takes Lettuce. Ichigo is hopping around, and steps on Ryou's foot. He instructs her on what to do, and she dances beautifully with him.
After the dance, Ichigo steps outside for some air, and Ryou follows her with some juice. Ichigo asks him why he chose this dress for her, and he says that he thought it would look good on her. He suddendly reaches out and fixes her hair a little, leaving Ichigo surprised. Ichigo thinks about Ryou for a little bit, before Kishu calls out to her. He takes Mary's spirit from her body and infuses it with the red-glowing parasite, creating a piano playing cat like monster, which is extremely fast. Masha alerts Mint and Lettuce to the Chimera Animal, and they run outside and transform. Kishu sends the Chimera Animal to attack, and it quickly jumps around and attacks. Kishu says that this is Deep Blue's will, and Ichigo wonders who Deep Blue is. Mint and Lettuce try to attack, but both miss. The Chimera Animal attacks back with a musical wind attack. Keiichiro and Ryou run out, and try to think of a plan of how to beat this type of Chimera Animal. Ryou tells Keichiiro to play Mary's piano song at full volume over the speakers. Ryou then jumps in front of the girls as the piano music starts playing. The Chimera Animal stops it's attack and goes into convulsions, leaving an opening for Mew Ichigo to attack. It is defeated, freeing Mary's spirit, which Ichigo returns to her body. Kishu says that he'll return to play another day. Ichigo wakes Mary up, Ryou helps her up, and Mary thanks Ichigo for saving her life.

Why must they make the episodes I don't like much better than my favorites? This episode was, in my opinion, the best one so far. The subtitles for the Spanish were a little tacky, though.
Really, I'm just pissed about what my local Fox station decided to do. Right at the end of the last commercial break, a weatherman jumps in with a flood watch alert. So I missed Masha flying inside and warning the others, the tranformations, and the very beginning of the battle. If anything in there was cut, I don't know as of right now.

Well done script. The woman speaking Spanish probably worked better than her speaking Japanese anyway.
Not much stupid dialogue.
Some minor cuts, but eh. What can you do?
The insert song is annoying. I don't know what to make of the transformation editing they did. I wonder what they'll do when all five are around.
And on a final note... POR QUEEEEEEE?

Script was amazingly good this time. The language barrier thing was kept, just changed from Japanese/English to English/Spanish. And it was pulled off very well too, at least with Maria's VA. Elliott and Wesley were subpar at Spanish, and Mark was a little braggy about getting a B+ in the class.

Mary McGuire is changed to Maria Rivera to reflect the Spanish-ness.

Originally, Ichigo's dad was telling Ichigo they had to visit their Uncle Matsurimi. The dub changes this to them going to a samurai festival. This stems from Zoey having to watch old samurai movies the summer she broke her leg. Originally, this part was Ichigo telling her dad that even though he was an Edo style sushi cook, he was still an ordinary salaryman.

(11 seconds) The beginning of Ichigo's little tiff with her father is cut.

Aww, they're fighting, how cute!

(34 seconds) Wow...the entire scene of Ichigo yelling at Ryou for making her work is baleeted.

Who likes working on their day off, anyway?

(20 seconds) Ichigo freaking out about all the English being thrown at her is cut.

When in doubt, panic!

The dub decided to move the snippet of Aoyama walking up (when you just see his legs) to after Lettuce is panicking inside.

(7 seconds) Keiichiro translating what Mary said to the girls (when she says she'd like to play the piano for them) is cut.

Keiichiro the translator

(4 seconds) Keiichiro saying that he believes in Ryou's intuition is cut.

Mmm, yaoi hints

(3 seconds) Shot of the ceiling at the party is cut.

I see...the light...

(5 seconds) Ichigo and Ryou dancing is cut short.

Roses = romance

Instead of only showing Ichigo's tranformation, they used the same squished thing and same insert song from last week.

"Do we HAVE to do this?"

Says Corina about the mini-rap. Ahh, how I wish I had heard this myself.

"It's a real wing-dinger!"

This replaced a sorta-important line of Kishu mentioning Deep Blue.

(6 seconds) Ichigo yelling at Kishu after the battle is cut.
