4 "Namida no Date, Aoyama-kun ni Ienai Himitsu Nyan"
(A Tearful Date, The Secret I Can't Tell Aoyama-kun, Nyan!)
2002- 04-27
4 "The Lion Thing" 2005-03-19
While walking with Miwa and Moe to school, Ichigo is spaced out thinking about Kishu's kiss. The three see Aoyama, and call out to him. Ichigo runs away and thinks to herself that she can't face him now. Throughout the entire school day, she runs into Aoyama, but is still avoidant. After school, Ichigo is still freaking out when Aoyama walks up to see her. He hands her a ticket for an animal exhibit in Nishiyama Park the next day and asks her to go with him. Ichigo has a little thought of her kitty-self dancing happily, then she remembers Kishu. She tells Aoyama that she can't go with him and runs out of the room.
The blue light speaks to Kishu and asks him if he has gotten information for "the plan." It says that Earth must be brought to submission quickly.
At work, Ichigo has broken some dishes and is cleaning them up. Mint tells her to get a hold of herself and points to a table full of broken plates. Ichigo, spaced out, blames Lettuce for breaking them. She then says that her heart is broken, and Mint remarks that she's falling apart. Ichigo says she was supposed to go on a date with Aoyama, and Lettuce asks her what happened. Ichigo starts to talk about the kiss, but then slips on a plate shard and falls. Later, she's looking at the ticket when Ryou walks out and tells her to look for aliens. She storms out and wanders around until Masha tells her to go in a certain direction. They end up at the animal exhibit at Nishiyama Park. Aoyama comes up behind her and says that he had been waiting for her to show up and the two walk off together, with Kishu watching from above.
At the cafe, Mint and Lettuce discuss about Ichigo and if she's still crying over the date. Back at the park, Ichigo and Aoyama are walking around, and Ichigo accidentally points at the haunted house, and the two enter. She freaks out at every scary-looking thing inside and accidentally stumbles into Aoyama. In one room, she gets so scared that she ends up fainting. Holding hands, they exit the haunted house and are met with a mob of people running in a panic. Kishu had possessed some of the animals to start attacking the people at the park. Aoyama grabs Ichigo and starts running, but Ichigo lets go of his hand and jumps away from the crowd. Kishu appears behind her and says he wants another kiss from her. She kicks him, and he floats away and makes a parasite appear, and infect a lion cub, which transforms into a Chimera Animal and attacks Ichigo. She grabs her pendant, but gets attacked again, and can't transform. Kishu then says he'll have to kill Ichigo.
Suddenly, Mint appears along with Lettcue and attacks. Mint and Ichigo argue for a bit, and Lettuce says that Ryou asked them to help Ichigo, who now transforms. Kishu remarks that the other "toys" are cute before he tells the lion to attack again. The girls split up, and the lion attacks Ichigo grabbing her by the tail and flinging her. Lettcue attacks, stunning the lion long enough for Ichigo to change it back into a normal lion cub. Ichigo tells Kishu never to come back, and he teleports away. Then suddenly, Ichigo runs off to find Aoyama. She finds him calling out for her frantically. When she runs up to him, he yells at her, asking her what she was doing. Ichigo looks down, and Aoyama abruptly tells her that they're leaving.
While walking home, Ichigo starts crying. Aoyama walks back to her and tells her that it's okay. He was just really worried about her, and invites her to visit again another day, as long as she doesn't run off again. She promises not to, but thinks to her self that she still has a secret that she's hiding from him, but her feelings are real. She really does love him.

This episode was more-or-less on par with last week's episode. Not many cuts, but that was made up by a ton of WTF moments. So many scene movements...I am kinda glad they skipped the mini-rap for this episode. If Mint and Lettuce had said it...

The circle of liiiiiiiiife... Ahem, excuse me.
This episode is definitely an improvement. The "mew-tilate" pun makes a return appearance from the grave in hopes of killing the lion. Didn’t work.
Not much that I want to comment on. I can’t blame them for editing Kishu’s lower body, lest parents see his genital area. I don’t think any of us want that.
Lots of pointless switches and alterations that episode. I’m impressed by the lack of stupid dialogue. There was still some, but a definite improvement over last week. It seems that the worst part of MMP is over, and it will gradually get better or at least stay where it is. Hopefully it won’t retrogress.

HOT DIGITAL PAINT BUCKET ON TICKET ACTION! WITH A SIGN THROWN IN TOO!

Script, script, script...it was pretty good this episode. It also seems that the voice actors are getting better with each episode. Bridget's voice is more subdued and quiet like it should be. Zoey's is still getting a little on my nerves, though.

Nishiyama Park is changed to an amusement park/petting zoo and the animal showing is changed to a "bring a friend for free" promotion thing.

Also appearing for the first time are Mew names, Mew Corina and Mew Bridget. I thought they had cut these out since they're never been said before. Sadly, they just don't have the ring that Mew Mint and Mew Lettuce did.

At first, I thought this was as simple as saying that the shot of Ichigo walking from far off was cut. But after getting my episodes synched up, and then having them get unsynched soon after, made me watch the opening scene a little closer.

In the original, the flashback that Ichigo has cuts out her asking Masha if he's broken and also cuts the conversation that she and Kishu have after the kiss. What the dub decided to do was to take the entire last scene of episode 3 and stick it in as the flashback, making the dub's flashback longer than the original's. They also move a shot of Ichigo's blushy face to before the flashback, when in the original you didn't see it until after.

The flashback also had the standard hazy flashback border added.

"She is such a freak lately!"

What is it with them calling her a freak!? They're supposed to be her friends!

Another WTF moment. For some reason, the dubbers moved the Kishu/Deep Blue scene to right after Ichigo avoids Aoyama on the stairs. The original had it after the ticket giving scene. Moving the scene kinda broke the continuity the original had...*shakes head* I don't see what they gain by moving things around.

Not a single SDA, but something I've been noticing for a couple episodes now that has finally gotten on my nerves. Often, when Zoey laughs around Mark, she snorts. I know it's supposed to be funny, but she does it so often, it's gotten annoying.

Mr. Digital Paint Bucket does his job on the ticket to the park!

No more kana!

(3 seconds) The shot of Ichigo's head while she was bowing is cut.

The sign at the park also gets the DPB treatment.

No more kana here either!

Bridget serves Corina MINT tea. I think they're teasing us...

And for whatever reason they moved the Kishu/Deep Blue scene, they moved the scene with the horse and monkey going crazy to before Ichigo and Aoyama wonder what's going on.

(2 seconds) The little flashback snippet of Kishu kissing Ichigo after he meets her in the park is cut.

Something that I just noticed in this episode. In the original, you can tell that Kishu's pants are kinda far down on his body. You can see two lines where his legs start (I guess that's it, not exactly sure what you call that) The dub has erased those lines.

Ahh! Crotch lines!

(1 second) Kishu licking his lips is snipped out.

(9 seconds) Kishu grabbing Ichigo's face, sitting on the ground and talking to her is cut.

*grab grab*

"Are you ready to mew-tilate that thing, girls?"

Ha ha ha.

I don't know why, but when Zoey says "Mew-tamorphosis!" Corina and Bridget say it too. They're already transformed, so they didn't need to say it...

(7 seconds and 3 seconds) Ichigo's beginning and end of transformation is cut as always. I think I'll be combining them like this from now on.

(10 seconds) Ichigo, Mint, and Lettuce posing together is cut. A good thing, because I can't imagine Mint or Lettuce saying the "Mew Mew Style..." thing.

Too bad they said it together another time

(5 seconds) Mint and Lettuce talking after Ichigo runs off is cut.

She's not absorbed, but obsessed.

Uh...they left out the next episode preview. Whoops.
