(School Ghost Story! Revealing the Monster's True Form, Nyan!)

3 "Pooltergeist" 2005-03-12
The mysterious blue ball speaks out to a shadow. It says that an unknown force has stopped the Chimera animals twice. It sends out the shadow, a person named Kishu, to gather data on the strange events.
Ichigo is running extremely fast down the street, because she is now late to school from oversleeping, then forgetting something. She rounds a corner, and runs into a green-haired girl, knocking them both down and causing the girl to drop the schoolbags she was carrying. The girl apologizes to Ichigo many times, and asks her if she's okay, saying it wouldn't have happened if she had been watching where she was going. The green-haired girl hands Ichigo her bag, apologizing again. When Ichigo asks the girl if she's okay, she seems surprised. Picking up the four schoolbags, the girl, named Lettuce, runs off, apologizing to Ichigo before running after her friends. Ichigo resumes her dash to school, and gets there just in time.
After school, Ichigo is wobbling down the street. She's flashbacking to the "devils" at the cafe. Mint orders her around, and doesn't do any work herself. Ryou tells her to look for aliens after doing all of the cafe work. And Keiichiro gives her sweets and avoids the issue of Mint and Ryou. She yells about how it's wrong that they make her do everything, and that she WILL talk to them today. But she doesn't, and ends up doing everything again.
While working, she hears some girls talking about a ghost at Okumura Junior High. Three of the girls ask Lettuce, the girl from that morning, to check out the ghost. Ichigo then randomly appears with a mayonnaise and ketchup parfait, which she dumps on the three other girls. They get angry with Ichigo, but Keiichiro leads them away with his charm to clean themselves up. After they leave, Ichigo asks Lettuce why she hangs around those girls. She says that she'll hang around them a little longer until they ask her for her advice on things. When Lettuce and the other girls walk out, Mint comes up to Ichigo and says they should go to the school after work. Ichigo starts freaking out about how ghosts are scary and that she doesn't want to go.
After work, Ichigo tries to sneak out the back to go home, but Mint catches her and literally drags her to Okumura with a leash. They walk onto the school grounds, and Mint scares Ichigo many times by faking ghost sightings and noises. The two girls walk around the school, but find nothing out of the ordinary. Suddenly, while inside, some water dripping is heard. The faucets turn on and spew out torrents of water. Mint transforms, and follows the blast of water out the window. Masha alerts Ichigo to a Chimera Animal, and she also transforms. Outside, Kishu was watching. He grins, and then disappears. Ichigo joins Mint outside at the pool, and yells at the water twister in the pool, which then attacks. Mint attacks back, causing the water to dissipate. Ichigo then notes it was too easy to be a Chimera Animal. She then notices Lettuce glowing, and a bright light glows. Lettuce had transformed into a Mew Mew! She calls her Lettuce Castanets and attacks Mint with Ribbon Lettuce Rush. Lettuce warns Ichigo that she's next, before attacking, but Ichigo dodges. Lettuce attacks a third time, causing Ichigo to call out her own weapon, but Ichigo notices that Lettuce is crying. She then says that Lettuce is just scared and the normal Lettuce wouldn't do this. Mint even joins in saying that she shouldn't spend her entire life in a shell. Lettuce yells that because she is different, she'll never make any friends. Ichigo then begins to attack, but stops at the last minute, and says that she killed the shy and timid girl that Lettuce was, and says that she and Lettuce are already friends, and the two fall into the pool. And so, Lettuce joined Mint and Ichigo at Cafe Mew Mew.
The next day, Ichigo is walking when Masha alerts her to an alien. Suddenly, a voice calls out, saying that he wanted to check out who was messing up their plans, but that they've become fond of Ichigo. Kishu then jumps down and kisses Ichigo, who asks who he is. He introduces himself and then leaves, leaving Ichigo mortified about being kissed by this mysterious alien.

Whoo, it does seem that the episodes are getting better with each one. There weren't many large cuts, only a few of scenes that had long holds. I'm getting used to the VA work, though Zoey is still a bit whiny. Best episode so far. Let's hope next week's filler episode gets at least this good of a treatment.

Just a little note before I begin, my cable was out for the first 10 minutes or so of the episode, so I didn't see the full thing.
I was impressed by what I saw and what I've read. It still was not perfect, but it was a big improvement.
Editing out the 100 kg doo-dad. METRIC IS THE DEVIL!! IT'S SATANIST!!
"You've always got this dull ache in your heart, like you ate bad sushi.". ZOMGWTFBBQTACOROFFLEMAYOWITHASIDEOFSEREBS [Personal joke, don't bother asking.]
And pointless cuts... Meh.
Allow me to finish with one thing. I found the reality show line funny. To quote Bright Noa, "Hate me if you like. I don't care."

The script was mostly on for this episode. But it seemed that there was a LOT more off-screen talking where there was silence in the original, and conversations where there were originally voice-overs.

We got to hear Bridget speak more in this episode, and her voice is a little low for my liking. Her apologetic disposition doesn't quite fit it.

The girls that Lettuce hung out with are now called the Three Beckys. In the original, they didn't have names.

Okumura Junior High is renamed Excalibur High.

"And then I had to go stay up all night watching stupid reality shows! Stupid guys playing monkies and volleyball! Why is it so addicting!? Why couldn't I turn away!?"

I fail to see how funny that is.

(7 seconds) Ichigo running like crazy to school is cut short.

(6 seconds) When Ichigo is thinking about the people she "works" with, the part with her pausing shortly after talking with Mint and then her cleaning up before she sits down is cut.

Clean up, clean up

"I am totally gonna tell them what's up!"

Oooo, trying to be like Madison Taylor, are we?

Wesley offers to let the Three Beckys take a tour of the kitchen and have some free samples. In the original, Keiichiro just showed them the way to a place where they could clean up.

"So, by the associative principle, I figure, if I do stuff for them, then they'll be my friends."

The associative principle only truly works in math, dear Bridget.

The weight that drops on Ichigo's head originally had 100Kg written on it. Because metric is too complicated for the minds of children, this was cut.

Ahh, metric!

"That makes Zoey very happy!"

Sorry, Zoey, but you are not Palla-Palla or Raimy. Those characters are cute. You are not. Third-person just doesn't work for you.

(7 seconds) Beginning of Mint's transformation...

(6 seconds) ...and end of Mint's transformation.

(8 seconds) Beginning of Ichigo's transformation...

(3 seconds) ...and end of Ichigo's transformation.

Now, for some funky reason, 4Kids decided to give Bridget two attacks, Deep Sea Surge Attack and Tidal Wave Rush. Deep Sea Surge Attack is when Bridget turns clockwise. Tidal Wave Rush is when Bridget turns counterclockwise

In other words, 4Kids flipped the scene when Lettuce attacks for the second time for whatever reason. In the original, she just attacked with Ribbon Lettuce Rush the entire time.

"You've always got this dull ache in your heart, like you ate bad sushi."

Add in that it's said by Corina, and it becomes twice as stupid. Then it is also said in a rather dramatic moment when most people wouldn't like of making comparisons like that. And wouldn't you get a stomachache from eating bad food anyway?

(11 seconds) The little scene at the cafe with a voiceover by Ichigo talking about Lettuce joining the team is cut.

A new friend

"So when you least expect it...expect it."

*sings Cardcaptors theme* And Dren said those last two words as he was kissing Zoey. You shouldn't be able to speak while kissing someone.

(4 seconds) Kishu kissing Ichigo is cut short in the dub.

Kissy, kissy!

(3 seconds) A little snippet of Kishu speaking is cut. This also happens to cut out when he licks his lips.

Licky, licky!
