Summary here

Coming back to doing this after three years made me forget how time consuming it is. But...It really does feel nice to look back on this old show. I guess I'm going through a bit of a "dub crisis" with Ar tonelico II right now...that game's translation seems to be heading down the toilet. But when I look back at this show, I realize that nothing can get worse than a 4Kids dub, as mean as that is to say.
So uh, about the episode. This one never aired in the US, but it aired other places. Thanks to Hika Yagami, I was able to get DVD versions of the dub episodes to finally finish off this series.

The script was...there. Of course there's a lot of humor added.

Tsukiko Yamada's name is changed to Gretchen, which is kind of fitting...an "ugly" name for an "ugly" girl.

The Rainbow Stone keeps its name, yay!

The text on the ring is taken off.

Kikki: "Some mover guy strapped a grand piano onto Renee's assistant."

I'd sue if someone was that stupid. In the original, the assistant was just sick.

Zakuro's necklace is decrossed, as usual.

(9 seconds) After being told where Zakuro is going, in the original, Ichigo remembers that the rings were from the same company. Then she smiles, runs off, and Mint gets angry.

The scene with the girls learning about the Rainbow Stone is moved here. Also, the shot of Cafe Mew Mew is replaced with a nighttime shot instead of a daytime shot. AND the part with everyone standing in front of the screen looking at it is repeated at the end.

(4 seconds) As if the above wasn't enough, the beginning of the scene with Keiichiro introducing the stone is chopped off.

The sign inside the convention center is de-kana'd.

The song playing in the original while Zakuro walks on stage is her image song, "Don't Cry". This is taken out in the dub.

Zoey in a horrible fake English accent: "And here's Renee Roberts, presenting the shimmering and mysterious Strawberry Amulet made famous by her own gourgeous assistant, the lovely and talented Zoey Hanson!"
*ears bleed* The original just had Ichigo remarking how pretty Zakuro was.

(1 second) A snippet of Zakuro getting her hair snipped was...snipped.

(1 second) The scene-changing pan of the stage is snipped shorter.

(14 seconds) When Tsukiko falls, she adjusts her glasses then asks who Ichigo is. Ichigo introduces herself, then asks where to put the heavy box.

(5 seconds) A bit of the conversation between Tsukiko and Ichigo is cut.

(12 seconds) More conversation between Tsukiko and Ichigo is cut, this time it's when they're sitting on stage. This includes all the shiny scenes of Zakuro posing in jewlery

Originally, Tsukiko thinks that Zakuro will look better wearing the Rainbow Stone. In the dub, Gretchen had designed the necklace herself. Also, later, Zoey comes up with the idea of having Renee wear the necklace.

A shot of Ichigo's face is moved a few seconds later.

(2 seconds) A repeat of the shot of Ichigo's face is cut.

(1 second) The pan back from Tsukiko is cut a little.

A bit of Gretchen walking all depressed is moved to before the scenes that show that the jewelry show is starting.

(2 seconds) A shot of Ichigo running up to Zakuro to tell her that Tsukiko is missing is cut.

Gretchen: "I should just move back to Ohio and work in a mall kiosk."

Proof that this takes place in Amurikka?!

(3 seconds) The stage lights fading down is cut.

The bit with Zoey getting a phone call is lengthened by a second or so.

(2 seconds) The director guy jabbing his finger at Tsukiko is cut, because jabbing fingers makes little kids murderers.

(5 seconds) Ichigo yelling after the director before Kishu shows up is cut down.

(41 seconds) Ichigo's transformation scene is GONE, but...

43 seconds are added back with the inclusion of an Animal Instict transformation scene for Bridget, Corina, and Kikki.

Pie's "Fuu Shi Sen" is "Aerial Torpedo" here.

(5 seconds) Lettuce running after Pie is cut...BUT!

14 seconds are added back with the extra animation added into Ichigo's attack.

Dren: "Now prepare to be polished off for all eternity!"

It wouldn't be an episode about jewels without some jewel puns.

The bit with Ichigo getting attacked with the eye beams is repeated after where a commercial break probably would be.

(2 seconds) The turtle monster speaking after getting stuck on her back is cut short.

As usual, Zakuro's mark on her stomach is taken off.

(3 seconds) The fade down of the lights is cut agaaaaain.

Corina: "I mean, talk about Mew Mew style and Mew Mew grace..."

But does Renee have power in your FACE?

(3 seconds) Tsukiko tossing her flowers after her walk on stage is cut.
